In this course I will teach you how to code an engineers simulation with ABAQUS/CAE using VDA (Visual Data Access). We will create a 3D model, a set of materials and define boundary conditions, in order to perform a static, dynamic and thermal analysis. The advantages in comparison to the mouse based GUI is clear. Not only by building reusable full automated scripts, but you can also gather results from different variables that you did not anticipate before and save them all in the same file. The “modal analysis” for example is an easy way to analyze natural frequencies and modal shapes.
This course is designed to teach engineers how to effectively perform simulations using Abaqus/CAE. This course will start with a brief description of the GUI and all the utilities to generate, mesh and analyze finite element models. The second part of this course will focus on writing Python scripts for Abaqus/CAE. Through the modules in this series, the students will develop an understanding of how to script complex geometric, mechanical, thermal and fatigue FEA models directly from Abaqus/CAE.
This course will teach you to code the ABAQUS FEA software’s input file in Python. We will also be discussing how to set up GUI’s for your code.
