Tip #1: LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION.
Let’s get to tip 1. Where are you promoting on social networks. Although this may seem obvious, you’d be amazed at how many coaches don’t realize it! This is because your ideal clients should be promoted where they are, not where you like to hang out.
For example, if your job is to be a career coach you must be on LinkedIn. If you are a college admissions counselor, you should be on the online forums where parents can discuss school. And if you are an health coach, Facebook groups are great places to find clients.
Finding the best place for your clients to hang out is key. They won’t see your content, no matter how amazing it is!
We’ve covered that, now let’s get to the CONTENT…

Tip #2: THE ENGAGEMENT FORMULA
Tip #2 is my engagement formula, which I have used since the start of my business. It’s something I recommend to all my students.
It is not enough to just publish content and expect people respond.
Everybody is busy. They have lots of things going on in their lives. It’s possible to get caught up in writing random content.
If you feel like this, please comment below! You’re producing great content, but no one is responding to you!
This engagement formula will get their attention and keep it. It makes it easy for them to connect with you.
That formula is:
Attention + Value + Call for Action
Here’s one of my examples posts.
Always start your message with a catchy header. You can use this header to ask a question, tell a story or reveal a surprising fact.
Once you have gained their attention, you can then direct them to the value you want to share with your training. It should be easy to understand and simple.
End your article with a call-to-action that offers readers something to do.
You can answer the question, then respond, and let me know your thoughts. Or, you could go ahead and do this exact thing. It will help them recall what you have just shared.
This powerful formula makes your content easy to read and attention-grabbing. This is crucial because we are all so busy and have short attention spans. This formula will help you stand out on social media.
Tip #3: USE RELATIONSHIP BOOSTERS
Next, I recommend that you use social media to create real relationships. You can’t expect people to engage with your content by simply posting on a forum.
Social media is all about connecting.
This can be done in many fun ways, including fun icebreaker games such as 2 truths and one lie. You can share three statements, one being a lie, and then have people guess which lie it is.
This was something I taught my students a while ago and it was one my most engaging prompts.
Asking personal questions, such as Gretchen Rubin asking her audience about their personal preferences.
This helps you build a relationship with people. When you start talking about your content or your offer, they think…oh yeah! I know you a lot, let me see what you’re talking. And they’re much more interested.
Tip #4: BE TARGETED
Finally, once you have started to build relationships with your clients and engage them using these tips, it is important to ensure that you don’t waste any of your time.
This means that you should make sure you are sharing content that is relevant to your business.
This includes answering questions in your field of expertise.
You can focus your search by searching for keywords that are related to what you do.
Make sure you highlight your knowledge on the topic in the content that you share using the engagement formula.
And remember, it’s about quality, not quantity.
Focusing on the right clients and building relationships will help you get them much faster than writing endless posts for them.
When I started my online coaching business, I did digital advertising consulting as that was what I was employed to do. I also saw someone asking about Facebook ads. I messaged her, explaining that this was what I did in my job. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about market research.
I didn’t want to sell anything to her, but I was trying to make connections with people and get to know my market. So she asked me how I could help her.
That’s how I got my first paying client in just 2 weeks.
These are my top tips for using social media to coach clients. These tips are sure to work for you. Here’s the best part…
